Dallas CRPS & RSD Treatment Center
While many forms of pain have a specific cause – for instance, back pain may be attributed to strain on the lower back – the same may not be true for those who experience complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), a form of chronic pain, often felt in an arm or a leg. At the InterX Therapy Center, we’ve treated many patients with CRPS (also known as RSD, or reflex sympathetic dystrophy pain) and can create a CRPS treatment plan to help get you through the pain and on the road to recovery.
CRPS usually affects an arm or a leg and typically develops after an injury, surgery, stroke or heart attack. But the pain from CRPS is out of proportion to the severity of the initial injury.
CRPS usually manifests near the spot of the original injury or trauma. The most common symptoms are extreme pain, which can be described as burning, stabbing, grinding, and throbbing. The limb often can’t be touched or moved because of the severity of the pain.

Patients may also experience swelling in the affected area. They may also become sensitive to things that generally don’t hurt, like wind, water, noise, and vibrations become sensitive. Touch of any kind becomes incredibly painful. There’s often an abnormal increase or absence of sweating. Skin temperature shifts, skin color can alternate between white and mottled to bright red or reddish violet, and skin texture may also change.
And it goes deeper: those who suffer from CRPS often experience bones that soften and thin, joints feel tender or stiff, the growth of nails and hair may accelerate or slow down, or become brittle. They may experience muscle spasms, muscle loss, or tremors.
And though the severity and duration of CRPS symptoms may vary, the McGill pain index, a scale for rating pain, ranks CRPS highest, above childbirth, amputation and cancer. Symptoms may be inconsistent and change over time – and they can vary from person to person.
If you suffer from CRPS, the InterX Therapy Center can help. With a holistic CRPS treatment plan that’s tailored to your unique circumstances, we’ll have you on the road to recovery soon. Because at the InterX Therapy Center, we believe there’s no need for you to suffer.
