As a pain relief center, we at InterX view healing and pain management as one part of a larger solution.

Diet

You’ve heard the old saying, “You are what you eat.” And while you won’t literally become a head of lettuce if that’s what you eat, you will find yourself healthier if you make healthier dietary choices. Along with the kinds of benefits you might expect – more energy, lower blood pressure – you’ll find improving your gut health will accelerate healing, reduce the likelihood of anxiety and depression, and even prevent “leaky gut,” a condition that can cause inflammation, which can lead to chronic pain.

Sleep

Depriving yourself of quality sleep isn’t just a matter of feeling groggy the next day. Sleep helps restore the body. There is not part of the human body, physically or emotionally, that doesn’t benefit from sleep. What’s especially alarming are the myths we’re often told about sleep; that we only need 4- to 6-hours of sleep a night, that we can “catch up” on lost sleep, or that the brain simply shuts off when we fall asleep. None of these is true.

There are a number of simple things you can do to improve the quality of your sleep:

  • Sleep in a dark room.
  • Exercise in the morning for good sleep at night.
  • Power down! No TV, cell phone, and or Internet at least 1-2 hours before bed.
  • No caffeine 6-8 hours or alcohol 4-5 hours before bedtime.

Sleep enhances memory, keeps blood sugar levels regulated and keeps weight under control, thus allowing the body to heal as God intended. After 6 hours of sleep, the body heals, repairs and restores, and blood acidity levels drop, lowering inflammation and repairing the body.

Hydration

It’s odorless, colorless, and sometimes falls freely from the sky, and yet we cannont understate the importance of water, the basis of all known organisms. Experts recommend between 9 and 13 cups (for women and men, respectively) of water every day. Not only is it free of calories in its purest form, water regulates internal body temperature, metabolizes proteins and carbohydrates used as food, lubricates joints, insulates the brain, spinal cord, organs, and fetus, flushes waste and toxins from the body via urine, dissolves minerals, soluble vitamins, and certain nutrients, and carries oxygen and nutrients to cells.

Plus, it’s literally all around us. So bottoms up!

As a neuropathic pain relief center, your health and well-being are our primary concern and we’ll use every tool we have to help you realize your best self. But by paying attention to your diet, sleep, and hydration, you’ll get to your best self even faster.
