Customized treatments and personalized care for your sciatic nerve pain
We’re frequent asked about sciatic nerve pain relief and if it’s a difficult condition to treat. After all, the spine is a complex and sensitive area of the body; pain can appear without cause or warning, leaving you feeling helpless. But at the InterX Therapy Center, we’ve come to learn a thing or about the relief of sciatic nerve pain.
The sciatic nerve, the longest nerve in the human body, starts in the lower back and splits, running through the hips, buttocks, legs, and feet on both sides of the body. It’s not surprising that, as the largest nerve, the sciatic nerve can cause a lot of pain. With many forms of back pain, it can be difficult to identify the source or cause. Not so with sciatic nerve pain, which is generally easy to spot.
It’s not surprising that, as the largest nerve, the sciatic nerve can cause a lot of pain.
The spine is made up of bones separated by round, pliable discs of connective tissue that serve as cushion and prevent the bones from rubbing together. But sometimes, because of injury or aging, these disks wear down and the soft center starts to push out from the hard outer ring. This is known as a herniated disk.
When a disc herniates, it can begin to put pressure on the adjacent nerves. When the adjacent nerve is the sciatic nerve, this will often result in a lot of pain. And it’s not just herniated disks. There are other factors, such as bone spurs, that can also put pressure on the sciatic nerve and cause pain and other problems down the nerve.
A common sign of this condition is pain that radiates from your lower back into the back or side or your legs. It can range from a mild ache to sharp, severe pain. Along with pain, you may also feel numbness, tingling, and weakness in your legs or feet.
At the InterX Therapy Center, we’ve seen – and successfully treated – plenty of cases of sciatic nerve pain. We know no two cases are alike.
